The Chalet is a unique holiday chalet at West Meikle Pinkerton Farm, near Dunbar, that can accommodate people with disabilities.  It is a holiday chalet with many bespoke alterations and features that make it particularly suitable for disabled people.  The chalet has widened hallways and space in all rooms to accommodate wheelchairs comfortably, there are cavities under the hob and the sink to allow wheelchairs to get underneath and there is a track and hoist going from the bed to a wetroom.

The project fits in very nicely with other accessible organisations in the area such as Beach Wheelchairs, which is a charity that gives free use of specially adapted wheelchairs that can be used on sand.  Beach Wheelchairs is based in nearby North Berwick.

The Chalet at West Meikle Pinkerton is having an open day on April 29th - it might be a good idea to visit and see the chalet for yourself and Beach Wheelchairs as well.  You can find out more about The Chalet here and more about Beach Wheelchairs here.
