
LEADER stands for:
Liaison Entre Actions pour le Développement de L'Economie Rurale
(links between actions for the development of the rural economy).
Using a bottom-up, local approach, LEADER aims to build stronger, richer local communities and business networks. Through building human capital, innovation and co-operation the Local Action Group (LAG) aims to tackle local community development objectives. The Scottish Rural Development Programme outcome from LEADER is to achieve;
"local empowerment through innovative approaches and rural capacity building".
There are certain eligibility crieria that projects must take into consideration before presenting an application for funding to the Tyne Esk LEADER Programme.
